The Energy Procurement Specialist role requires a combination of experience in energy markets, contract negotiation skills, data analysis capabilities, and the ability to develop and execute energy procurement strategies. The specialist will work closely with sales and operations teams to identify cost-saving opportunities for clients, negotiate contracts with energy suppliers, analyze market trends and regulations, and manage energy projects to ensure objectives are met.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in natural gas utility or retail gas supply, preferably within large industrial markets in the US.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in retail energy transaction/contracting within the US market.
  • Knowledge of current energy industry trends across all deregulated power and gas markets.
  • Familiarity with common industry trade publications and key price points.
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Economics, Accounting, or Business.
  • Experience in contract negotiations, energy regulations, renewable development, or energy generation technologies.
  • Proven ability to evaluate new energy markets, utility tariffs, policies, power contracts, or evaluate new energy sourcing opportunities and technologies.
  • Familiarity with renewable credit programs, renewable project development, power forecasting and scheduling, portfolio management theory, advanced energy storage, or alternative energy resources.
  • Experience in building relationships and working with industry stakeholders such as utilities, regional power planning agencies, and renewable project developers.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple simultaneous projects with minimal direction.
  • Excellent speaking, listening, and writing skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and data analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the ARDEM Sales and Energy Ops teams to acquire new energy procurement and utilities auditing work.
  • Negotiate and execute power and gas supply contracts across regions to establish a low-cost energy portfolio.
  • Interpret and analyze utility tariffs, energy supplier offers, and contracts.
  • Forecast natural gas, nomination, balancing, and reporting.
  • Develop buying strategies to secure the lowest possible cost and minimize price risk.
  • Identify key market conditions, regulations, and structures to evaluate potential savings opportunities.
  • Support the development and implementation of comprehensive energy and utilities commercial programs.
  • Execute power and gas supply contracts to reduce costs, minimize risks, and leverage opportunities for ARDEM clients.
  • Collaborate with ARDEM sales and ops teams to identify strategic client energy sourcing opportunities.
  • Analyze trends and regulations in the energy space to proactively identify opportunities benefiting the company.
  • Develop strategies to capitalize on movements in energy markets for cost-saving opportunities.
  • Manage energy projects against plans and objectives to ensure commitments are met, delivering against cost-saving goals.
  • Demonstrate a passionate and self-starting attitude.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and customers.
